Exmoor On Horseback describes eight trails in and around Exmoor National Park, and three trails in the Quantock Hills.
Exmoor has been described as “the riding playground of England”. It is indeed superb riding country and offers a great equestrian experience. This guide, revised in 2005 in conjunction with Exmoor National Park authority and the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty, is aimed at local riders and prospective visitors alike. Riders can explore at leisure the variety of scenery that Exmoor offers, from open heather moorland to steeply wooded valleys. This guide also contains information on local equestrian businesses and sites of interest along the routes, designed to make your journey easier to plan and more memorable. All you need is this guide, an Ordnance Survey map, and you’re on your way.
The trails in this guide form part of The British Horse Society’s National Bridleroute Network. For more information on the network and promoted routes throughout the UK, visit www.ride-uk.org.uk and keep visiting the growing equestrian information resource on www.equinetourism.co.uk
