For thousands of years the human race has relied on the horse for work and play and today horses still play a vital role in the rural economy.The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs estimates that the equine industry contributes £2.5 billion to the rural economy, employing 50,000 people directly and up to 200,000 indirectly. Over 2.4 million people ride but 5 million people have an active interest in horses! |

This leaflet is designed to appeal to horse lovers: those who have their own horses and want new and interesting routes; those who have never ridden before but would like to try ambling through peaceful, beautiful countryside and those who would rather go to the races or watch a game of polo.
