Exclusive horse riding and house parties in the heart of beautiful Exmoor |
The Tufters

Exclusive riding and house parties...
...and quality self catering in the heart of Exmoor. At The Tufters, the aim is to provide a top quality, personalised riding holiday, tailored to your individual needs, whether you bring your own horses or hire well schooled and responsive horses from the owners. Robert and Katherine White, your hosts, have over 20 years experience in the equestrian and leisure business. Simply organise yourself and a few friends or family to create a unique and memorable house party.

|
At the end of a long day riding out over some of the most beautiful countryside in the world, return to Tufters for a superb dinner with wine, carefully chosen to reflect local produce. Or, if you prefer, you will have all the facilities you need to look after yourselves.
There's also plenty to do for non-horsey people in the party - The Tufters is an excellent base for walking, fishing, shooting, canoeing or simply a quiet haven in which to relax and unwind.
The surrounding area abounds with places of interest - the historic 'clapper bridge' at Tarr Steps just over the hill, Dunkery Beacon with its magnificent views (it is possible to see across to Dartmoor on one side and Wales on the other).
The pretty villages of Dunster and Porlock and the town of Dulverton are close by, as is the Doone Valley which is famous for R.D.Blackmore's famous novel 'Lorna Doone'.
The lovely sands of Woolacombe Bay are just a 40 minute drive and the area boasts some very interesting National Trust properties and gardens.

Holidays at Tufters... |
The Tufters, originally farm cottages, is newly renovated and completely refurbished to a 5- Star level of comfort and style.
It has an enviable position situated by Larcombe Brook below the Torre Rocks and lies just 1.5 miles from the village of Winsford on the Exford road (4 miles) - right in the heart of the Exmoor National Park, between two thriving village communities boasting excellent amenities, including good pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, Post Offices and general stores. Winsford has two hard tennis courts available for use and both villages offer safe play/adventure areas.
There are numerous footpaths and bridleways close by. If you're riding one of Tufters well schooled and responsive horses, you can take advantage of an experienced guide to take you over some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. Over moors, deep valleys, rivers and for the most adventurous, up rocky climbs and steep combes. Using our local knowledge, our routes are chosen to give you the most enjoyable experience of Exmoor. More experienced riders bringing their own horses may wish to navigate themselves.
Wildlife abounds in this magnificent landscape. There are wonderful views from the house and you can regularly sight the famous red deer, or wander onto the open moor and see the herds of Exmoor ponies and soaring buzzards.
