Little Quarme offer luxury self catering holiday cottages in the heart of Exmoor National Park S.W. England. There are six stone cottages in a superb secluded south facing location set amid 18 acres and lovely gardens 1,000 foot above sea level at the head of the Quarme Valley..... a very special place.. abundant wildlife... fresh air... stars in the sky.. peace and tranquility......
The cottages are approached by a quarter-mile private drive, offering you an oasis of calm in a totally traffic free secure environment with panoramic southerly views....
Little Quarme is a small private estate dating from the Domesday Book. The current cottages and converted barns date from 1708 and were completely renovated in 1989. They are constantly redecorated and upgraded to the highest standards - designed to give each cottage comfort and privacy - and satisfied guests return year after year.
The village of Wheddon Cross is within walking distance of two food shops, garage, inn, church and chapel. We have direct access to footpaths and a bridleway leading to Snowdrop Valley and the National Trust's two thousand acres of open heather moorland with its lovely walks and breathtaking views - Dunkery Beacon.
Bring your horse with you on holiday
Little Quarme offers large, comfortable stabling and grazing for your horse. The outriding is superb, so why not treat your horse to a wonderful holiday too?
The area offers masses of equestrian events, shows and activities - so while the hacking is outstanding, you might also like to take your horse to a show, join a training clinic or maybe be even discover the popular new sport of TREC.

Little Quarme Cottages... |
Each cottage has a secure cottage-style garden or patio with garden furniture amid well kept larger gardens and grounds where guests are free to roam. All are equipped, serviced and furnished to a very high standard. Little Quarme offers luxury cottages at a reasonable price. And someone is always here to give you - a warm welcome, local knowledge and old fashioned hospitality.
Little Quarme Cottages offer discerning guests a very rare combination of top quality accommodation amid lovely well kept gardens and grounds - not a place of manicured lawns - but country cottage style and very rural with no air, light or traffic pollution. Large ancient pond filled with wildlife. ( toddlers beware)
The Cottages...
Stable Cottage - two bedrooms, sleeps four.
Rose Cottage - two bedrooms, sleeps four.
Dunkery Cottage - two bedrooms, sleeps four.
Quarme Cottage - three bedrooms, sleeps four/six.
Exford Cottage - one bedroom, sleeps two.
Winsford Cottage - one bedroom, sleeps two.
Linen - All beds have 13.2 duvets and are made up before your arrival with freshly laundered cotton bedlinen, bath and hand towels, tea towels, kitchen roll, washing up liquid and dishwasher powder all provided.
Heating - Exmoor can be at its most beautiful off season, each cottage will have their central heating on and be warm and aired before your arrival.
Ample night storage heaters, focal cast iron electric log or coal effect fires, panel heaters in the bedrooms, electric radiators or fan heaters in bathrooms. All supplied by �1 coin meters set on electricity board tariff. The meters are fed before your arrival and a bag of coins (for emergency use) and a torch hang on the meter cupboards. This covers some of your electricity costs.
Mobile phones - reception Orange wonderful, Vodaphone OK in places, BT and Cellnet very poor. Payphone, e-mail and Internet facilities available in the house.
Parking and bicycle storage - Ample parking with two car parks on each side of the cottages - leaving a car free environment around the cottages. Undercover storage space for bicycles, surfboards etc.Mountain bikes available for hire �5 per bike per day.
Amenities - Daily papers, milk, grocery orders, baby-sitting arranged on request.
Recreation room, with pool table and local attraction leaflets, surrounded by decking with patio tables, chairs and umbrellas overlooking the pond and down the valley.
Don't forget - all you need bring is your food and clothes - comfortable walking shoes and wellington boots, a camera to capture the moment, binoculars to see all the abundant birdlife and wildlife especially Exmoor Red Deer - everything else is already here.
Dogs - Charged @ �25 per week in 2006 - We welcome well behaved family pets, accompanied by responsible owners. Dogs must be kept on leads in the grounds, not allowed upstairs or on the furniture and only be left alone in the cottages with prior consent. The fields are all available for dog walking off the lead with direct access to foothpaths and bridlepaths. D.I.Y Stabling and grazing is available for guests with horses, price on application.
Arrivals from 2 pm - Departures by 9.45 am - We thoroughly service the cottages between guests.
Off season - Any start date is possible. Very sorry - group parties are not accepted.

Non-Equestrian Activities |
Non-horsey or non-riding partners, friends and family will have masses to do! Activities available include shooting, fishing, walking, wildlife safaris, 4x4, sailing and all other countryside pursuits available in Exmoor National Park.
There are several nationally renowned organised shoots within the area.
The River Exe - and its tributary the River Barle - is one of the most productive salmon rivers in the West Country. Fishing is also available on the Mole, Taw and Lyn and at Wimbleball and Clatworthy Reservoirs.
Golf is available at Taunton, Tiverton and Minehead.
Horse Racing is available at Taunton, Exeter, Newton Abbot and Wincanton.

Exmoor National Park
Exmoor covers 267 square miles of varied countryside spanning adjacent areas of West Somerset and North Devon. It is one of 13 National Parks in the UK which have been created to protect their special value in terms of landscape, ecology and open air recreation. Compared with many of the other National Parks, Exmoor is small and quiet.
It has many distinctive features, including herds of wild Red Deer, free-living Exmoor ponies, local breeds of farm animals, a spectacular coastline, beautiful open moors and heaths, ancient oak woodlands, traditional beech hedges, lovely villages, historic buildings and archaeological features, and rare species of plants and animals. |

DIRECTIONS - M5 junction 25 or the A303 to Taunton – follow sign posts for Minehead at the Cross Keys roundabout take the Minehead road A358 - after approx 2 miles turn left on to the B3224 (Under railway bridge) Little Quarme is 17 miles from this junction � mile past Wheddon Cross to Exford Road B3224, sign on main road. The Bridgwater route is not recommended.
From the South M5 Junction (27) take the North Devon link road – turn north towards Bampton and Dulverton at the Tiverton roundabout for one of the UK most stunning & beautiful drives following the River Exe up the Exe Valley to Wheddon Cross |
