Horner Farm Riding Weekends are aimed at experienced riders who want to join like minded people for a fun weekend in the saddle.

Horner Farm Riding weekends are like no other riding in the country - where else can you ride across moorland, forests, rivers, hills and spacious open fields, all in one day?

From Horner Farm, footpaths and bridleways fan in all directions and for literally miles and miles - enabling an endless choice of stunning horse riding possibilities every day, on all terrain. Horner Wood is a nature reserve and popular with walkers and horse riders at any time of the year. You will see red deer, free-living Exmoor ponies, buzzards and an eclectic mix of fascinating flora and fauna.

The landscapes are dramatic - deep forested river valleys, sparkling and meandering rivers and streams, secretive coombes and wide open expanses of fabulous moor - perfect for exhilarating canters.

You will experience long canters and gallops at every opportunity on amazing horses. The horses are all fit and forward going - and know their job. Say good bye to pony trekking in single file - here at Horner Farm you will get the chance to canter abreast across the open moors.

Horner Farm Riding Stables has been established for over 50 years and run by the Williams family. Mark Williams lives on site and is a keen polo player, so riders benefit from having access to a string of fit, healthy polo ponies and hunters who thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to stretch their legs on the weekend rides.

There are horses to suit every level and ability and Mark and his team take pride in carefully matching riders to horses they will enjoy.

Experience a fun, sociable weekend with like-minded riders - with horse riding perfectly timed to coincide with delicious Exmoor pub lunches, refreshments and evening meals. Porlock, Dunster and Minehead are nearby, offering a wealth of character and wonderful eating and shopping opportunities!

Horner Farm offers transport from Taunton railway station, making it an ideal weekend getaway from the City - and various dates are available throughout the year. Rides are available from 1 hour hacks, to pub rides and full day rides. Hats can be borrowed at the stables and rides are run 7 days a week.

Horner Farm

Situated in the breathtakingly beautiful Porlock Vale, within the National Trust Holnicote Estate, is the idyllic farming hamlet of Horner - sheltering in the lee of Dunkery Hill and adjacent to the picturesque Horner River.

Horner Farm is a lovely Grade II listed detached National Trust farmhouse, originating from the 14th Century and lived in and loved by the same family for generations.

Horner Farm is a charming, rambling farmhouse of great character. To the front is a garden (including trampoline, table/chairs & barbecue). Inside is roomy, comfy, homely, and perfect for relaxing after a day's riding. The atmosphere is friendly and sociable - enabling you to chill out and have fun!

From the garden, the entrance door leads to the hallway, where there are steps down to the spacious living room with huge ox-roasting inglenook (woodburner) and a view of the stables. The dining room overlooks the garden and there is a fitted kitchen (with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave) and table & chairs in the middle. There is also a downstairs shower-room (suite).

From the hall the stairs lead up to five bedrooms – a double with lovely long rural views (5’9" lintel), a double plus single with washbasin, a room with two sets of twin beds (one set linkable) with en suite shower, a twin with washbasin, and a bunk room plus single; bathroom (suite plus bath-shower); and, down steps, a separate loo (washbasin). Dogs are allowed in the kitchen only.

The property accommodates a maximum of 9/10 adults and is perfect for those true country-lovers who want to experience a true farmhouse lifestyle.

Stabling and livery is also available for your own horses.
