Big Red Cow is the creation of Simon and Tracey David who keep their herd of Red Ruby Devon cattle on the National Trust Holnicote Estate in Exmoor National Park. Simon is an award-winning master butcher with 25 years experience. You can visit their stand at the main shows - from Badminton to Burghley - and treat yourself to some Exmoor Finest Meats - Pedigree Red Devon beef, free range Somerset pork, Exmoor lamb, home produced burgers, sausages and home cured bacon. Introducing 'Big Red Cow' - Exmoor Finest Meats & Cooked Foods from Woodcocks Ley Farm |
Award winning Butcher, Simon David and his wife Tracey, farm the National Trust's Woodcocks Ley Farm in beautiful Exmoor National Park. Their prized Pedigree herd of Red Devon cattle have been shown with great success and now, Simon and Tracey, have launched 'Big Red Cow' which offers both fresh meat and delicious farm-cooked meals, available directly to the public.
Although Red Devon cattle are Simon and Tracey's main farming operation, they also keep a native breed of Berkshire pigs and Exmoor Horn sheep (crossed with Charollais). All cuts of meat are available - from brisket on the bone, to modern cuts such as stuffed summer lamb joint. Meat boxes can be ordered - and tailormade - which include roasting joints, steak, stewing meat and sausages.
Their new Exmoor Finest Meats kitchen enables them to prepare a delicious range of freshly cooked foods - from Steak & Ale Pie, Casseroles and Beef Wellington, to Lasagne, Quiches, Scones and Cakes. Sauces are also available, including apple, red wine and pepper sauce (as well as Yorkshire Pudding batter!).
