The Irish Horse Welfare Trust, Charity No. CHY14634 was established in 1999 and gained charitable status in 2002. IHWT is involved in the following work:
1) Rescue, Rehabilitation & Re-homing of horses and ponies. 2) Racehorse Re-training for Re-homing Programme. 3) Campaigning on issues affecting Equines. 4) Promoting Equine Welfare Awareness and EducationIHWT operates two premises, one on the East coast - and the other in the midlands. IHWT is not open to the public but visits can be made by arrangement. IHWT has several regional welfare officers throughout Ireland and runs a small rescue unit for equines in the midlands.

In markets across Poland, farm horses, foals and even children's ponies are sold to dealers and loaded into trucks - almost all to face a terrifying and painful journey to Italy where they will be slaughtered for meat. Every year, 30,000 horses leave Poland for the slaughterhouses of Italy. There is no rest, no water and no food for many on the road to misery - a five day journey across six countries. Viva!'s campaign has helped to save some 70,000 horses a year. With your help we can save the rest.

Brooke Hospital for Animals
Healthy working animals for the world's poorest communities
The Brooke delivers free veterinary treatment directly to working horses, donkeys and mules, together with training and education for their owners, at the heart of poor communities. Every year, the Brooke reaches over 500,000 horses, donkeys and mules via its 45 mobile teams and 15 field clinics. The Brooke employs 500 staff overseas, all recruited locally. 80% of welfare problems are preventable therefore training and education are a vital part of its work.

Any items you donate will be auctioned at Exeter Equine Auction, which takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. All proceeds go to the Brooke Hospital for Animals.

The Canterbury Horse Rescue Centre, established by Martin King, has been rescuing horses, ponies and donkeys for over 20 years. In addition to fighting for animal welfare, we provide an equine training establishment for children and adults. Our rescued horses then help humans to overcome their difficulties. As a training centre, we can provide the opportunity to succeed. We wish for every student to succeed within his or her capabilities. The Centre is now fundraising to improve its facilities and services so donations and help are very gratefully received.

Lluest Horse and Pony Trust - Horse & Pony Rescue Centre

Housing, feeding, shoeing and veterinary care require time, skill and money. Most owners love their horses and look after them well, but unfortunately a minority neglect their animals. Many end up at the Lluest Horse and Pony Trust, a rescue centre for horses, ponies and donkeys at a 40-acre farm on the west of the National Park. It aims to restore them to full health, and find new loving loan homes. Sadly, some never fully recover and remain at Lluest for life. The Trust normally has around 30 horses on its 40 acre farm between Llandeilo and Llandovery. It welcomes visitors, but asks them to ring first, 01550 740661.
