Equestrian Escapes specialise in horse riding holidays to Cheshire
We offer a range of riding holidays for those people wanting to bring their own horses to Cheshire and also for those who want to ride our horses. Cheshire has miles of riding opportunities including The Bishop Bennet Way and The Delamere Forest.
The Bishop Bennet Way
The Bishop Bennet Way runs from Beeston Castle in the heart of Cheshire to Whitchurch in the south of the county. The route is named after an eighteenth century traveller who once explored the tracks that we now ride for pleasure. The ride comprises of over 40km of quiet country lanes and bridleways, the route is largely flat but with some gentle hills in its southern half.
Delamere Forest
Delamere Forest is situated in the Cheshire countryside not far from the ancient Roman city of Chester. The forest comprises of a network of paths and trails and offers some excellent riding areas. There is also a good visitors’ centre and places to get a drink.
Cheshire Riding Stables is fully approved by the British Horse Society (BHS) and has wonderful facilities including an all-weather farm ride, cross country course, working hunter course and indoor and outdoor arenas. The qualified instructors are available to teach riders from 4 years upwards and from total beginners to more experienced riders. You can choose from dressage, show jumping or cross country lessons or you can just enjoy the hacking out available. You can bring your own horse or ride one of the selection of horses and ponies owned by the stables.

Cheshire Equine Tourism |
Local tourism board, Visit Chester & Cheshire (VCC), has partnered with short break organiser Equestrian Escapes (Equestrian Escapes) to devise a portfolio of attractive riding packages for horse enthusiasts considering an equine-inspired getaway.
The unique packages form part of VCC’s ongoing efforts to establish Cheshire as the UK’s premier ‘horseback’ county and boost the sub-region’s rural economy. Backed by the CREATE project and Cheshire Rural Recovery’s Saddle Up initiative, Visit Chester & Cheshire has already supported and funded the development of numerous off road riding routes and horse and rider accommodation.
The selection of specialist riding packages suit holidaymakers with or without horses. The varied itineraries complement Cheshire's 300km of bridleways, which include the recently launched Bishop Bennett Way and Delamere Loop. Details of the riding experiences on offer can be found at www.equestrian-escapes.com
The ongoing drive to secure the county’s status as an essential riding experience forms part of Visit Chester & Cheshire’s long-term strategy to develop several tourism niche markets, which include equine tourism, pampering and Spa, gardens, waterways, walking and cycling and creative breaks.
Tracey Pearson, Visit Chester & Cheshire Rural Tourism Business Development Manager, explained: “Cheshire is a unique and attractive destination with activities and adventure to suit all ages and interests. The county’s equestrian offering plays a huge part in Cheshire’s appeal. Visit Chester & Cheshire’s partnership with Equestrian Escapes looks set to further boost our bid to become a must see destination. The packages we’ve formulated are diverse and make use of all the county’s unique assets and whether visitors wish to ride non-stop during their stay, take in a polo match or spend the day at the races, there’s something available for everyone. “
Accommodation providers, food and drink outlets, retailers and visitor attractions will undoubtedly profit from a growing industry. Sarah Caplan, of Equestrian Escapes, says: “There is a huge gap in the market to provide a thrilling equine experience within Cheshire. The county is unique and our packages seek to encompass all that is special about the experience. We’re confident of getting the message out there that Cheshire is somewhere to come, bring your horse and thoroughly enjoy a short break.” |
