Winged Bowman, 23 years old on 1st May 2006, has belonged to Stephanie Poulter for 20 years. A stallion renowned for his "laid-back", friendly temperament and wicked sense of humour, he has carried Charlotte Poulter to success in every sphere from First Ridden and Fancy Dress to Working Hunter, Handy Pony and Ridden Mountain & Moorland classes.
They were twice winners of the E.P.S Junior Performance award; won the Exmoor NPS Versatile Pony qualifier in 1995 and were Handy Pony Champions at the 1996 Breed Show where he won the Open Working Hunter class; his son Orpheus winning the Novice Working Hunter class the same afternoon. In 1997 Charlotte and Bowman were Ridden Champions at Exford Show and at the 1998 Welsh E.P.S Area Show he was Ridden Champion and won the Open Working Hunter and Ridden Handy Pony class. He had a long and distinguished in-hand showing career
including Senior Champion at the Breed Show, Champion Exmoor at the NPS Centenary Summer Show at Malvern and Mountain & Moorland Champion at Monmouthshire County Show in both 1993 and 1997. His offspring won the Stallion Progeny Classes at the Breed Show in 2000 and 2002.
In 2000 Raphael, another of Winged Bowman's sons, was Ridden Champion at Exford Show and again in 2002 when he won the Olympia Qualifier. In September 2003 Raphael behaved impeccably to be placed 6th at The Horse of The Year Show. Bowman's daughter, Dramway Miss Pippin won the overall EPS performance award for 2004 and was runner up in 2005 following her many successes in ridden and WHP classes. In 2005 she also represented the breed at Olympia.
Winged Bowman's son Flying Buttress, born 1998, has inherited his sire's temperament and physique and has had great success in the show ring ever since he was a foal. He followed in his father's footsteps in 2003 and beat the Welsh to win the NPS in-hand silver medal at Monmouthshire County Show. In 2004 Flying Buttress was Reserve Champion in the EPS Pony of the Year final. The stallions live out all year high above the Wye Valley at Trellech in Monmouthshire and visitors are always welcome

Born in 1998, Flying Buttress has inherited his sire Winged Bowman's looks, substance and laid back temperament. That December he was best "up country"colt foal at the Exmoor Pony Society Foal and Youngstock Show and when only a yearling, was Supreme Champion at the same show.
From the age of 4 he has had many successes in senior in-hand classes, includingChampionships at the West Midlands Stallion Show, Three Counties Show, Dunster Country Fair, the Welsh Area EPS Show, and the Exmoor Breed Show. This year he was Champion Exmoor at the Royal Show and Reserve Champion at Three Counties.
In 2003 he followed in his father's footsteps in winning the Mountain & Moorland Championship and NPS Silver Medal at Monmouthshire County Show exactly ten years after his sire Winged Bowman. |

His first foal, Pantheon, born in 2002, passed his stallion inspection at the Stallion Parade in May 2005 and having had great success in the show ring in both mixed Mountain & Moorland and Exmoor breed classes has now done well in his first season under saddle.
Flying Buttress has so far sired three fillies and four colts, all of which have inherited his friendly laid back nature and bold outlook.
Flying Buttress has lived out all his life at approximately 1,000 feet in rural Monmouthshire, high above the Wye Valley. Visitors are always welcome to see him and his sire, Winged Bowman.
