SOMERSET
WEST SOMERSET

CFIRS Training & Development Grant
Cash grant of up to £500 over a six month period towards the training and development of a new employee in West Somerset (excluding Minehead and Watchet). Maximum size workforce: 10 full time staff. Can be used to cover costs of transport, childcare, training and associated costs ie clothing and equipment.

CFIRS Acorn Grant
Cash grant of £50 to £500 for business advice, training, small equipment. Maximum size of workforce: 10 full time staff. Business must be based in West Somerset (excluding Minehead and Watchet).

CFRIS will also consider proposals for brand new projects which would eventually become self-financing/sustaining.

SOMERSET
Somerset Learning and Skills Council
To provide a range of services in the areas of vocational and management training and education together with grant funding schemes to assist business start-ups and business expansions to aid local business development and ultimately, employment opportunties.

Somerset Skills Support Project
Funded by the South West of England Regional Development Agency - Skills Development Fund. The project is targeted towards employees of Somerset based SMEs in the Advanced Engineering and Leisure and Tourism sectors together with their supply chains ie manufacturing and food and drink.

Rural Somerset Business Chest Scheme
Operated and administered by Business Link and Somerset County Council on behalf of the Rural Somerset Committee. Grants are limited to 50% of project expenditure, up to a maximum of £750 per business or group of businesses. The aim is to provide grants for small businesses in Rural Somerset towards the costs of starting in business, marketing or equipment purchases.
