The Cottages...
Hound Tor

Sleeps 6
3 double bedrooms, 1 ensuite shower-room, 1 family bathroom
2 storey
Converted out of the original stables with hay loft above, this aspect of the yard featured many practical elements such as trap door directly above the hay racks where the hay could just be lowered in for the horses and mucking out door at low level directly into the yard where the midden was located. All the original partition panelling and hayracks have been saved to incorporate back into the overall scheme together with the block flooring.

Rippon Tor
Sleeps 6
2 double bedrooms, 1 x children's bedroom, 1 family bathroom
2 storey

Located in the corner of the yard, this would originally have been the Piggery with boiler room. When converting the properties we uncovered the original entrance door from the yard and opened it up. We knew it was there because we had obtained the original plans that were drawn up on linen. This cottage has wonderful views to Rippon Tor.

Hay Tor
Sleeps 6
3 double bedrooms; 1 ensuite shower-room, 1 family bathroom
Single storey, ground floor

The calves that were housed in the stalls in this barn must have had a lovely life with such beautiful views to look out to. Before the conversion started these barns were used when the farm's herd of pedigree Saddleback Pigs were farrowing down. Between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve 2004 over 60 piglets were born at Holwell!

Honeybag Tor
Sleeps 10
2 double bedrooms, 1 family bathroom on ground floor
3 double bedrooms, 1 ensuite shower-room and family bathroom on first floor
2 storey

Originally the Cart Barn, this building has a magnificent ceiling and only half of the barn had a first floor. The design here has incorporated a wonderful galleried landing to maximise on the fantastic views. There are two staircases to access the first floor of this extensive cottage which is ideal for larger family get-togethers.

How to Find Holwell Farm Cottages
IT IS VITAL THAT YOU KEEP THESE DIRECTIONS WITH YOU AND IF COMING AT NIGHT, YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED NOT TO DEVIATE FROM THIS ROUTE!
Exit A38 at Drumbridges Roundabout for Trago Mills, Bovey Tracey
Proceed towards Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead at exit roundabout
Go through Traffic Lights and on to next roundabout
Go straight ahead down Monks Way towards Town Centre and Moretonhamptead
At next roundabout there is a stone monument in the middle; PLEASE CHECK YOUR MILEOMETER AT THIS POINT
Take the first exit left on the B3387 towards Hay Tor and Widecombe
One third of a mile on the road will fork; take the left turn, still on the B3387 to Hay Tor
Keep on this road up the hill. Approx. 3 miles from the previous roundabout you will see a phone box on your left as you approach Hay Tor itself on the right. Keep going up the hill.
At the top of the hill, which will then be 5 miles from the Stone Monument Roundabout in Bovey Tracey, the Ashburton road will come in from the left and you will go over the Hemsworthy Gate Cattle Grid.
Keep on the main Widecombe road for a further half mile and take the turning on your right signposted Hound Tor, Manaton, Chagford and Moretonhampstead.
(If you arrive in Widecombe itself, you have gone past the turning; come back up the hill)
Half a mile on this road you will turn right into the Holwell Drive; PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE DRIVE ENTRANCE IS SET BACK FROM THE ROAD AND IT IS NOT IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE. THERE IS A CATTLE GRID AND GATE WITH “HOLWELL” WRITTEN ON IT
If you end up at another cattle grid on the main road you will have gone too far and missed the entrance; COME BACK!
