We hope you like the Equinetourism.co.uk logo. The aim is to show the horse and rider in balance and harmony – with light hands, correct outline achieved through willingness, not coercion, and above all – fluidity and understanding when man comes together with horse. |

Equine Tourism
Equine Tourism, commercially known as Equinetourism.co.uk, was founded in 2004 to promote equestrian activities, establishments, people and horse breeds - with a commitment to good horsemanship practice and horse welfare. The website includes an equestrian Events Listings diary, Horse Holidays, an Equine Directory and an Articles and Information section. Equine Tourism encourages the use of positive, trust-based methods of horsemanship which enable horse and handler, and horse and rider, to develop a bond of trust and work in partnership, as equals, where the horses wellbeing and happiness are paramount.
History
Equinetourism.co.uk was founded by Dawn Westcott (nee Williams) in 2004. Following a successful career in business and glossy magazine publishing in London (editing, art directing, designing and styling), Dawn Westcott trained in Monty Roberts methods of horsemanship, with Maya Horsey, who is now Monty Roberts Head Instructor at Flag Is Up Farms in California. After achieving Distinction in the Monty Roberts Introductory Certificate in Horsemanship, and its affiliated Open College of Equine Studies Programme, she founded Equinetourism.co.uk to help promote better understanding and enjoyment of horses and like-minded elements of the equine industry, UK and worldwide. Dawn Westcott is also a Reiki Master, artist and breeder and producer of Exmoor ponies.
Commitment to the Exmoor Pony Breed
Equinetourism.co.uk aims to promote horse and pony breeds worldwide and develops breed profiles. The Equine Tourism initiative is particularly dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the rare and endangered Exmoor Pony breed, which originates in Exmoor National Park, UK (which is also the home of Equine Tourism). Exmoor ponies have remained genetically pure since the Ice Age and are prized for their intelligence, stamina, strength, hardiness and ability to live in semi-feral herds in harsh climates. Grazing quotas are strict and youngstock must be weaned each year from the free-living herds and found homes either in conservation grazing or domesticity. Equinetourism.co.uk is dedicated to promoting the qualities and attributes of the capable and versatile Exmoor pony, and building awareness of handling and training them using positive, trust-based methods of horsemanship. Equinetourism.co.uk is working with legendary horse trainer, Monty Roberts, to promote better understanding of horses and their behaviour. You can find special information sections and links to Monty’s new Equus Online University.
