Or just relax in the heated swimming pool. Fishing, target shooting, arena riding, overnight trips, evening entertainment and much more await you as well.

Accommodation and Food at Twin Peaks Ranch

At Twin Peaks Ranch, you will experience some of the finest western cooking and lodging in the Northern Rockies.

Twin Peaks Ranch is rated by AAA as a "3 diamond property”. The cozy original cabins are separate one and two bedroom units with three-quarter baths and comfortable, covered porches. The newer, more spacious deluxe cabins are comprised of three side-by-side units. The two end units have whirlpool tubs. All units have magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

Meals are served buffet style featuring a full fare of hearty western cuisine. In addition, an array of freshly baked goodies is always out at the lodge to treat you. Special dietary requirements are accommodated as much as possible.

Breakfast may include eggs benedict, biscuits and gravy, blueberry pancakes, Belgian waffles, pan omelets, a full fruit and pastry bar, plus all the traditional breakfast items. For lunch, you will find a fresh sandwich bar as well as other items. Prime rib, halibut, salmon, rainbow trout, roast turkey, boneless pork loin and the best ever Idaho potato bar are among the dinner entrees served up to fill even the most ravenous appetites, followed by fresh, home-baked desserts. You will also enjoy outdoor lunches and Cowboy Cookouts!

WILDLIFE: The Northern Rockies are known for their truly remote wilderness experiences in a setting the same as that seen by its pioneers. Home to big horn sheep, moose, bear, deer and antelope, big and indigenous game are seen living and grazing in their own environment here.

Horse Riding Holidays

At Twin Peaks, our horses and wranglers are specially selected and trained for Rockies' activities to ensure exceptional riding and safety.

After an introductory session to enable you to become familiar with your horse, the tack and the "how to’s" of managing your horse in the mountainous terrain and on the trails, you will go out on a leisurely trail ride.

The trail will take you along a beautiful rushing stream lined with shimmering aspen, through the pungent sage of the open range, and into the pine forests and views of the usually snow capped Continental Divide where Lewis and Clark cut their pioneering trail to the West. Rides later in the week will take you past the old abandoned Twin Peaks mine on your way to a breakfast cookout as well as other beautiful terrain.

Horsemanship Lessons: If at any particular time you are interested in working with your horse in the arena, you can arrange a training session with one of the wranglers, who will be happy to help you.
Cattle Drives & Round-Ups

After you've become fully familiar with your horse and the outriding, you may like to help in a real cattle drive. This operation takes a coordinated effort of three different team positions: the "point man" who sets the direction the herd will take, the "outriders" who keep the spread of the herd tight and bundled up, and the "drag" cowboys who keep the push moving from the rear.

The wranglers will explain all of this in detail and give tips to make the job go as planned, but there will always be some critter that spots some grass and "bush up" hoping to hold up right there. The trail boss, based on their long experience, will assign you one of these team positions. By the time the drive is completed, you will have a good idea of how the West was won, in no small part by its cowboys. Later, you can even take part in the arena in the team penning competition of short horns into a small corral. The clock keeps ticking and it’s a battle of wits, yours against the bovine. Try your hand at barrel racing next, where the fastest time wins.
