Lozier's Box R Ranch
The Lozier's Box "R" Ranch, run by Irv Lozier, is surrounded by the 840,000 acre Bridger National Forest and the spectacular 240,000 acre Bridger Wilderness Area.
The ranch utilises 1590 private acres and nearly 10,000 leased acres of cattle and horse grazing pastures, which allows the livestock to 'drift' and roam in enormous areas.
All of this offers visitors the opportunity to get involved in a range of ranch activities, from spring cattle drives and pack trips to horsemanship clinics and to truly experience an authentic cowboy lifestyle. This ranch prides itself on its quality working horses and guests are welcome to observe and join in wherever possible, while at the same time enjoying warm hospitality, excellent cuisine and luxurious accommodation, when based at the ranch.

Spring Cattle Drive
A Spring Cattle Drive will give you a truly genuine, un-pampered opportunity to become part of the 'Real West' while working amongst cattle, cowboys, ranchers and their families.
During our Spring Cattle Drives, the guests of the Lozier's Box "R" Ranch can assist numerous neighbouring ranchers. This consortium of 11,000+ head of cows, calves, yearlings, and bulls are driven or “drift” 30 to 75 miles to and from their high country summer grazing allotments on the national forest. The team at Box R Ranch will take time to teach you the necessary skills for driving cattle across open country or through steep & heavily wooded mountains; the art of sorting; how to "think like a cow " and to predict their actions & reactions; how and when to doctor sick cattle; and of course how to get your boots and britches dirty.

Fall Cattle Round Ups & Aspen Colour Rides
Riding the quality, working ranch horses, riding the open range, cowboying and cattle working activities are the highlight of the Lozier's Box "R" Ranch during these beautiful fall days and chilly mornings.
The schedule differs from the Spring Cattle Drives because you will be "back-riding", gathering, and sorting to bring the cattle from the high mountain summer pastures and grazing allotments back down through the shimmering Aspens and blue Sage pastures to the ranches and private lands in the valleys for the winter.
At the Lozier's Box "R" Ranch, we take exceptional pride in our working ranch horses, and we offer free Horsemanship assistance to assure many of our less knowledgeable riders are able to gain the confidence and courage to really take part in many of the “Cowboying” activities.

Cowboy Camps
These two weeks are a vital preamble to the ranch’s season ahead. A host of horseback chores will await from sunrise to sunset, including round-ups, brandings, or helping the wranglers get a few circle rides on our colts and young stock that will eventually take their place in the guest horse roster. Guests may join in these spring activities and chores while taking advantage of the opportunity to learn more about ranching and the cowboy life. You can choose the extent of your participation in the riding and ranch activities.

These mid-summer weeks have been specially designed to fit groups, families and our first time visitors by offering the widest possible variety of activities, including campfire cookouts, beach picnics, basic horsemanship classes, scenic rides and special high mountain excursions.
After meeting your horse and completing an 'orientation', you'll enjoy a peaceful creek bottom or ridge top ride along the numerous wildlife trails throughout the ranch and a scenic loop along Willow Lake's sandy beach shoreline.
The next four days will be spent concentrating on proper handling, horsemanship, and how to become a more experienced rider and ride comfortably at all paces. Riders are required to be conversant with their tack and their horse, capable of mounting and dismounting, at ease in open space riding before leaving the ranch to explore the open range.
