Ingela Larson is a 3* Parelli instructor with a love for horses and a heart for the children of Africa - she is directing the Horses for Mozambique Project and keen to progress the concept with children of many nations.

Horses for Mozambique aims to use the power of the natural and truthful relationship offered by horses to reach out to the children of Mozambique, some of whom have been rescued from devastating pasts. Using a method of natural horsemanship, the project aims to offer the children both a chance of rehabilitation and the opportunity to grow and develop mentally and emotionally.

Heidi and Rolland Baker of Iris Ministries have been instrumental in housing literally thousands of orphaned, abandoned and abused children. They have a hundred of the most severely emotionally damaged children with them at their own home in Pemba. Ingela Larsson is heading a project to train horses and ponies to give to the children of Pemba. Ingela has brought four horses from South Africa into Mozambique and the team is spending a month training the horses and working with the children and staff at Pemba.

Those of us lucky enough to have horses in our lives know just how much they mean to us as companions and a getaway fro the chaos of life. Imagine how much more these children need that opportunity to step away from their past and enjoy the genuine, honest relationship a horse can offer.
