2006 Project to Improve Facilities and Training |
CAN YOU SPONSOR US?
You may not be aware that although we are in the 21st Century horses and ponies are still being mistreated, abused and neglected. We as an organisation have been rescuing horses, ponies and donkeys for over 20 years. In addition to fighti! ng for animal welfare we provide an equine training establishment for children and adults.
Why is Canterbury Horse Rescue Unique?
Unlike other equine charities, our rescued horses help humans to overcome their difficulties. As a training centre we can provide the opportunity to succeed. In the past students may have experienced difficulties in achieving qualifications due to exclusion from school, truancy, misdiagnosed learning difficulties, or problems due to mental or physical disabilities. An important part of our work is dealing with emotional and behavioural problems. We wish for every student to succeed within his or her capabilities.
Following a recent Appraisal we have been inundated with enquiries from ne! w students wishing to enrol on our NVQ level 1, 2, 3 and 4 courses to gain a City & Guilds Certificate in Horse Studies. We also provide Work Based Training in the form of apprenticeships for mature students, school leavers and anyone who wishes to work within the equine industry.
Keits and donations from members of the general public presently fund us. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who help with the daily running of the Centre. W! ith a Sponsor we will be able to assist more people helping them to gain employment within the local community.
Why do we need your help and support?
We need to make our premises suitable so it would allow us to provide: · Improved facilities for students including classrooms with IT resources to take the centre into the 21st century · Facilities with greater access for disabled students and visitors · Sand school/manège to allow us to teach in all weathers /Rehabilitation for rescued horses (URGENT) · Education in Natural Horsemanship Methods to improve horse welfare · Keep our day centre open and Saturday’s Children’s club
How can you help?
Please help us to improv! e the lives of children and young adults in the South East by supporting this unique practical training and educational project. For the Centre to move forward we require funding and a Sponsor. If you think you can help us please contact us in writing, by email or call us. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Our target for this project is £350,000 with your help we can succeed. All donations are gratefully received.

| Canterbury Horse Rescue |
| Canterbury Horse Rescue's motto is 'we take in any horse for any reason at any time'. The reasons why horses and ponies come to us are as individual as the horses and ponies themselves. We rescue horses and ponies all over the country.
Once at our centre and depending on their condition, the horses/ponies are medically assessed and any necessary treatment is given. We work closely with The Milbourne Equine Veterinary Clinic. Wherever possible we rehabilitate them back to full health and find them good homes. Over the last 25 years we have rehomed thousands of horses and ponies. Each one of them is monitored by us and regularly checked. If for any reason the new owners cannot continue to provide the best care for the horse or pony they are returned to our centre. For some who cannot be re-homed, they live out the rest of their natural lives with us.
Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience in equitation and the horses and ponies that come to us get the very best of care. Our emphasis is on 'natural horsemanship' and understanding each horse/pony as an individual in its own right.
