Kevin qualified in 1979 and, after a couple of early posts in mixed/equine practices, followed his passion for equine work by gaining a place at the esteemed Scott-Dunn Equine Practice in Berkshire.

Here he spend the next 18 years, becoming a much respected and valued member of the team - attending horses ranging from carriage and state horses from the Royal Mews's; racehorses and top competition horses - to family hacks, old pets and rescue ponies. He spent many hours getting to know his patients and their owners.

Kevin was also a regular attending vet at Guards Polo and was one of the four on-course Ascot Racecourse vets for many years. He met his partner Sally (an equine radiographer, who X-Rayed horses for over five years). In 2003, they embarked upon a new challenge, opening their own equine veterinary practice in South Devon.

The Blackdown Equine Practice feels it is important to recognise the needs of horse owners in the area and be able to afford them the time to discuss different treatment options. Kevin is always happy to discuss a horsey query with anyone - such as worming advice tailored to an individual horse. He is particularly interested in breeding, tendon scanning and dentistry.

Many minor surgical procedures can be carried out on site but, for any case which needs interventional surgery with general anaesthesia, Blackdown Equine Practice has several options for referral to theatres in Liverpool, Bristol, Newmarket etc. We also have good links to experts around the country e.g. Willesley Equine Clinic, Gloucestershire and Western Counties Equine Clinic, Devon.

Kevin has also continued his racing interests by attending at Newton Abbot Exeter and is a Ministry Licenced Vet (for export/import health papers).
