Andrew Smith, NPTC Tree Felling; Phase II Gen Cert in Agriculture

Exmoor Woodlands - Arenas, gallops, fencing, tree felling & hedge laying
Whether you would like a new, full size arena (with a surface of your choice); a convenient - and safe - loose schooling area for working with & backing youngsters; fencing for paddocks, yards & woodlands; or help with land management, grant applications & stewardship schemes - Andrew Smith provides a complete professional service, tailored to your individual requirements.

ANDREW SMITH - Proprietor
Andrew Smith was educated at Brymore School Of Agriculture and Cannington College in Somerset and has over 15 years experience in erecting all types of agricultural fencing, as well as the creation of equestrian loose schools and arenas all over Exmoor and the West Country. He has a Phase 11 General Certificate in Agriculture and is NPTC qualified in tree felling. He can carry out all felling work, tree surgery and hedge laying on a small or commercial basis.
Fencing
Exmoor Woodlands supplies and erects all types of agricultural and equestrian fencing, including traditional post and rail fencing (round timber, square or rustic), plain wire stock fencing and deer fencing.

Oak & Chestnut Cleft Fencing
Exmoor Woodlands specialises in oak and chestnut cleft fencing and are happy to work in almost any location, from large farms to smallholdings and equestrian yards and even areas with access problems.

Each rail is individually clefted using traditional methods with an axe and morticed into the post. All the posts are cut out with a chainsaw. The natural curves and character of the wood is worked with so posts are not uniform, creating an attractive appearance. The fencing can either be all oak, or a chestnut and oak mix. The fence can be designed with either two, three or four rails, to a maximum height of around 6ft.

In between the rails, plain wire is drilled through the posts, making the fencing stock proof for sheep or cattle.

A site visit will be arranged beforehand to ensure the correct type and style of fencing and materials are chosen for your particular site.

All prices are quoted per metre.
Equestrian arenas and Loose Schools

Exmoor Woodlands offers a specialist and quality service to horse owners - amateur and professional.

As well as the erection of safe, sturdy and secure equestrian fencing, they will help you to create and build an equestrian arena or loose school to your own requirements and specific location - of vital importance to those living in National Parks or environmentally-sensitive areas.

Andrew is used to working on unique projects and past clients include racehorse trainers requiring loose schools for starting young horses and point to point yards.

Exmoor Woodlands carry out all construction and project-management work, including ground preparation and drainage, as well as the supply and erection of post and rails and delivery and laying of a suitable base - most surface types can be arranged, including woodchips and sand and rubber.

Exmoor Woodlands will even help to repair existing arenas and loose schools that have been neglected or accidentally damaged.
