Brendon Hill Stallions - Stallions at Stud |

Breeding World Class Event Horses - Sports Horse Stallions |
The Brendon Hill Stud was founded nearly forty years ago and is now one of the leading studs in the world of three day eventing. It has been responsible for the breeding of no less than three Olympic horses, a World Champion Gold Medallist, Three European Gold Medallists, a Badminton winner and two Burghley winners
|

|
The Stud at Brendon Hill originated with the breeding of tough, sound horses for the hunting field.
With the arrival of stallion, Ben Faerie, the studbecame responsible for the breeding of many successful advanced event horses and two Olympic contenders. Priceless was obviously the most famous of the stud's horses, with his Olympic bronze medal and World Championship win, as well as winning Badminton and Burghley.
Brendon Hill Farm prides itself on the personal care and attention given to the visiting mares during their time at stud. All the stud work and foaling is personally supervised by the owners and their son Michael. Foaling is also assisted by the use of foaling alarms.
The mares are grazed over a large acreage on the stock farm and, at the end of the stud season, the ground is stocked with sheep and cattle to prevent the ground becoming overgrazed by horses. |

| NEWS! New Stallion, Wessex Starring Role, joins Brendon Hill Stallions - December 2010 |
| Wessex Starring Role: Bay Horse 16hh 2006 Thoroughbred by Future Role out of Cawkwell Win (by Boco)
Wessex Starring Role has been specially selected to replace Future Role his late Sire who in turn was chosen to replace the great Ben Faerie, the World’s leading event horse sire. Wessex Starring Role has a wonderful calm disposition with great presence and movement. He is arguably one of the most prolific Show Champions of recent years in Sports Horse, Riding Horse and Hunter breeding classes demonstrating his versatility. His successes include:
2008
Royal County of Berkshire Show – Champion Sports Horse
Dorset County Show – Champion Riding Horse
Dorset County Show – Champion Sports Horse
Monmouthshire Show - Champion Sports Horse

Stourhead Show - Champion Sports Horse
2009

Wincanton Show - Champion Sports Horse
Whilst being broken-in in 2010 he qualified for the Ottergayle Supreme in-hand Riding Horse & Hack Championship for the third consecutive year and he returned to Dorset County Show to become the Champion Sports Horse for the third consecutive year. This is undoubtedly a dual purpose stallion who can produce top show stock and serious competition horses. His Dam, Cawkwell Win, herself a Champion Hunter Brood Mare was an exceptional well mannered hunter and bold lead team chase horse. Her two full brothers, Cawkwell Dean and Cawkwell Tom each won 11 and 10 Point to Points respectively.

| Hot Rumour |
Brendon Hill Stallions are very sad to report that the stallion Hot Rumour by Ben Faerie was recently put down. He was born on the farm twenty eight years ago and spent his whole life on Brendon Hill - other than for a short time when he was eventing. Rumour was an outstanding hunter carrying his owner Diana Scott for fifteen seasons as Master’s horse with the Devon & Somerset Staghounds, as well as being a top class sports horse sire. He has even left some mares in foal from last season but the sad decision was made after he began to become very arthritic. He will be hugely missed on Brendon Hill having been a delightful, kind horse who really loved hounds and hunting and who passed on his gentle nature to so many of his progeny.

Founding Stallion - The Great Ben Faerie |
The Great Ben Faerie
The stallions standing at stud are directly descended from the leading sire Ben Faerie who was responsible for siring such horses as Priceless, Night Cap,Walk On Star, Faerie Diadem, Another Fred and many others. |
The Stud |
Breeding |
Diana Scott and her son Michael both run the stud and are qualified AI technicians. The stud is based on a large stock farm high on the Brendon Hills and the mares are grazed in large sheltered fields with good permanent pasture. We have a number of spacious foaling boxes and all foalings, coverings and veterinary visits etc, are personally attended by either Diana or Michael.
|
We are breeding from a number of top class Ben Faerie mares as well as using his bloodlines in our stallions. His prepotency and success in the world of eventing will live on through his progeny here at Brendon Hill.
