The Monty Roberts Equestrian Academy is part of the non-profit organisation Join-Up International Inc., dedicated to promoting gentle, more effective alternatives to violence and force. Monty Roberts, Dean of Students, leads a team of exceptional Certified Instructors who have dedicated themselves to sharing Monty’s training philosophies by completing an extensive certification process.
Monty Roberts Equestrian Academy is unique from other training facilities because the primary focus of our curriculum is on equine psychology and behavior rather than riding skills. Students develop a solid understanding of what motivates and influences equine behavior in order to increase their effectiveness in the application of their choice: virtually any discipline of riding, veterinary assisting, shoeing, racehorse training and so forth.
Monty Roberts Equestrian Academy is located at Flag Is Up Farms in the Santa Ynez Valley, California at the heart of the Central Coast’s wine country just 40 miles north of Santa Barbara. We welcome visitors between 9am and 5pm daily, free of charge.
TRAINING PROGRAMMES
The Monty Roberts’ Equestrian Academy offers the extensive training programs below, as well as more succinct, short duration lessons. The curriculum offers students predictable, discernable, and effective tools to communicate with horses using their own natural language, forming a partnership based on trust and communication rather than dominance.
The Academy is proud to offer NEW online learning modules that reduce the time spent at Monty Roberts’ Equestrian Academy; therefore reducing your accommodation expenses, as well as time spent away from work! Online learning modules are comprised of stable management, nutrition, breeding, and sports performance.
