Featuring Yew - The Exmoor Pony by Catrin Williams
This is lovely footage showing the progressive and trusting partnership between pony and rider. No whips or force are used in the training of Yew and the results and development are there for all to see. |

| About Mr Yew: "My time started with Yew in early spring, when I had been interested in loaning a horse. This pony is most definitely not a horse by eye but makes up for his height in character. Once I met him I wanted to see more, Exmoor’s do that to you! They are hardy, have bags of character and are very clever. Fortunately, when I broke him in he had been cared for impeccably by his owner so trusted humans, and getting on his back was easy. We took time with him, introducing everything slowly. This truly worked as he took everything in his stride and as if he’d done it his whole life! As I rode him I used vocal commands and very little aids, so I can control him with my voice and body movement, maybe not in show fashion, but it works. He has truly been a star and I can definitely say if an Exmoor pony is brought up right, given his time, and given positive feedback, they will try their best!" Catrin Williams |

| The above video clip shows Hawkwell Versuvius making his first ever appearance 'at liberty' at a public event. He has been training in the new equestrian sport of Horse Agility and was invited to take part in the Native Pony Stallion Parade at the South West Equine Fair in December 2010. 'Bear' had never been shown in a busy indoor environment at a public event before, so it was quite a test to see what he would do. Despite a large crowd, a lot of noise and a very prominent exit - with huge doors open to the outside and views of the grass (!), Bear was able to concentrate and perform obstacles at liberty, including jumping through the blue hoop at the end. You can also see footage of him working at home, where he is more relaxed and connected with his handler. Over time, as we continue to learn this exciting new sport, we look forward to seeing how Bear develops. |
RETURNING TO HIS MARES - AT LIBERTY...
Here's some footage from the summer of Exmoor pony stallion Hawkwell Versuvius returning to his mares, after being ridden. He's completely 'at liberty' and it shows how the relationship achieved with Horse Agility training can enhance your every day relationship.
(Tchaikovsky's music is uncanny in the timing here!)
