Horse Riding and Horse Holidays at Exmoor Falconry |
Situated within the National Trust Holnicote Estate, Exmoor Falconry can offer horse riding over 400 miles of well maintained bridleway over Exmoor National Park - over moorland, woodland, rivers and combes. You can enjoy incredible views and a mild climate. Wildlife is sighted regularly - red deer, fallow deer, buzzards, peregrines, wild Exmoor ponies, kingfisher, dipper and heron.
Bring your own horse with you on holiday
We will provide the stabling - in an experienced yard, route maps, and riding escorts so you can explore the wonders of this beautiful National Park. We can advise half day or full day rides, with cream tea and pub lunch breaks; provide horse box pickup for linear rides; suggest overnight accommodation for more adventurous trail riders; and provide a ridden escort for the less brave!
Ride our horses in beautiful Exmoor National Park
If you're a relatively experienced rider, you can ride one of our three lively and sure-footed horses across some of the most beautiful countryside in the world - and enjoy the wonders of our local wildlife on horseback. We offer three and five day horse-riding holidays on our horses - which can include accommodation and an experienced escort.
Our Horse Riding Holiday Package
Our rides take you straight out over North Hill, Selworthy Beacon, through delightful villages such as Selworthy, Allerford, Horner and the hamlets of Cloutsham and Stoke Pero. Ride up through the 500 year ancient woodland of Horner, hear the buzzards cry, watch the deer over Ley Hill, gallop over Lucott Common, and marvel at the views across to Dartmoor from the top of Dunkery Beacon. There are circular rides covering distances of 4 to 20 miles, taken at your own speed, and organised to suit your ability. Although we prefer experienced riders, we occasionally take beginners for our short 1 hour rides through the woods and villages. Longer rides can take us across to Exford, or down through Snowdrop Valley (February), over Grabbist to Wootton Courtenay and Dunster, or along the coast up Porlock Hill to Culbone. There is masses to do for non-riding friends and family!

The Herb Garden & Shop |
When you spend a day at Exmoor Falconry, don't forget to take a little time out to relax in our beautiful herb garden - where you can enjoy a fresh-picked herb salad - and visit our organic herb shop.
We all like to dream, and now we have turned one of our dreams into reality. With the help of some grant money, our daughter Julie (23 yrs) and gardener Sam (73 yrs) we have designed and created a very special place in our Walled Garden - The Herb Garden - where you can relax and enjoy the aromas and delights of many common and unusual herbs and cut flowers.
The garden is arranged to walk through so that you can find out about the different herbs we are growing, their culinary and medicinal or aromatherapy uses, and you may also enjoy them in our freshly prepared salads and garnishes - don't be frightened to try the leaves or flowers - many are delicious, and a colourful addition to salads, drinks and desserts.
In the garden you will find several specially planted areas: The Scented Garden, The Infusions, The Culinary Garden, The Salad Garden, a traditional circle of Cut Flowers and Pot Pourris, and the Wildlife Garden, as well as a specially created south-facing Mediterranean Rock Garden, mirroring the mountain slopes of Crete in the Springtime. Sam has also now reinstated the original drainage and terracing system behind the old 'Victorian garden loo' which we have now planted - this we have called 'Monks Corner'!
If you decide to stay, the bedrooms are scented with herb bouquets, dried flowers and pot pourris, and you may purchase your own herbs to take home, herb vinegars and oils for cooking. We are using and selling home-made jams and local honey from bees on our farm, dried herbs and herb mixes, and creating dips for tasting and marinading.
