| Equine Tourism Online The Equinetourism.co.uk website is a unique concept that promotes horse riding holiday experiences along with equestrian activities – UK and worldwide. You have the choice of researching and talking to destinations directly, or organising your holidays through the tour operators featured on the site, giving you immense versatility when planning your trips. Equinetourism.co.uk is especially useful if you’re travelling with your own horse. In addition to a directory of places to stay, there is a full Events and Shows listings section, which includes competitions and events as well as training days, clinics and workshops. So you can plan your holiday diary to include a favourite show or training with a top professional, as well as trail riding in some of the most beautiful areas of the UK. The Equinetourism.co.uk initiative is committed to good horsemanship practice and horse welfare and is working with legendary horse trainer, Monty Roberts, to promote better understanding of horses and their behaviour. You can find special information sections and links to Monty’s new Equus Online University. Equinetourism.co.uk particularly supports and promotes the rare and endangered Exmoor pony breed – there is a dedicated editorial section as well as profiles on many other horse and pony breeds. Equinetourism.co.uk Contacts: Horse Shows and Events - We list masses of equestrian events across the UK and internationally - from racing, eventing and show jumping, to all types of horse shows, competitions, clinics, workshops, demos and talks - from a host of experts across all disciplines and horsemanship methods. See the Worldwide Horse Holiday section and the UK Horse Holiday section and also the UK Equestrian Centre section. Promoting Good Horsemanship - Equinetourism.co.uk was launched five years ago to encourage people to get involved in more equestrian activities, promoting good horsemanship and horse welfare - and to increase understanding of horse behaviour and psychology. The initiative helps to put people in touch with experts, professionals and services, across all equine disciplines, and endeavours to promote quality establishments and equine businesses, where commitment to good horsemanship is paramount. Equinetourism.co.uk Team The founder/editor has extensive experience in glossy magazine publishing in London (publishing, art direction, design, editing, styling) and equestrian journalism. Dawn Westcott also holds the Monty Roberts Intro Certificate in Horsemanship and is a Reiki Master. Dawn's husband, Nick, is a successful Exmoor farmer specialising in sheep and haylage, who has spent a lifetime around horses. Equinetourism is committed to the preservation and conservation of the rare Exmoor pony breed and the team is actively involved in socialising, backing, showing and breeding Exmoor ponies. The stallion standing at stud is the multi-champion (inc EPS Breed Show Supreme Champion), Hawkwell Versuvius. "If you can get the horse to trust you and to genuinely want to be ridden or handled by you - to retain his true spirit, and to work within his comfort zone - to want to try for you and look after you - in a way that is not detrimental to his health, happiness, spirit and confidence - then you are on the road to good horsemanship."
